A very long time ago I had the time to do Sudoku puzzles at slow periods of valet work. Often times there was a limit to the amount of numbers I could juggle in my head so I created a system of writing down the 2 or 3 possible numbers a blank square only could be. I could be interrupted and still have no problem going back to where I was due to my notes. It did however get some criticism. “That’s cheating,” Some would say, and it would be a valid point if my intention was to improve my memory. This was not my intention at all though. My intention was to solve the puzzle as efficiently as possible.
How many times have people self handicapped themselves this way? How many times have people turned their back on tools to leverage their efforts more productively? Would you throw away your books, notes, articles because we should memorize all of it? The written word is potential for progress.
